Updates!

Hello again my darlings. I've been very productive lately so here I am, back with another update for the close of October! Told you I was going to be doing more updates than before right? Quite honestly I don't know how I'm going to keep the pace up but I'll try my darnest to keep the blogshop stocked up so you won't be dissapointed whenever you pop by for a dose of Mimpi. Fingers crossed.

Anyhoo, check out my latest offerings over at Earrings, Necklaces, Bracelets & More! I do hope you'll find something you'll love (Pssst! The much requested Puteri Biru has been remade & is now available. Snap it up quick! EDIT: Puteri Biru has now been reserved)

To those of you who missed the last update,
I'm giving away a couple of my very own homemade all-natural lip balms to some lucky ladies (or gentlemen)! The competition is still ON till 3rd November & all you have to do is leave a comment at this post telling me what it is you like best about Mimpi (it can be anything from the jewelry designs, my blog posts, my dogs & cats, anything!). Easy right? So what are you waiting for? Leave a comment already!

Oh, and on the bazaar front, I'll be joining Chic Pop next month...
You read right folks! The Chic Pop Street Market is BACK for round two & you don't want to miss it, trust me. There are heaps of goodies & vouchers that you can snap up to redeem right then & there along with 50 vendors to shop from! Too bad I can't join in on the fun as I have to spend some much needed quality time with my family but trust me, I'm just dying to check it out! So why don't you be a doll & have a looksee for me?

Click here for the map to the venue & click here for more info on the event.

The Tale of How

The Tale of How from Shy the Sun on Vimeo.

Here's a little something dark & spooky for all you trick or treaters from The Black Heart Gang. In The Tale of How we meet the terror of the Indian ocean, Otto, who is a giant octopus with a tree growing on his head. Being a lonely terror, his favorite pastime is to devour the innocent dodoes who live on his head but in the end is foiled by a white mouse. Spookily dreamy, yes? Have a great Halloween tomorrow my lovely ghoulies!

Studio Choo

Oh dear me. After going through the photo diary/blog of Studio Choo, I now wish I could run off & open a little flower shop of my own. Perhaps you remember me blogging about them awhile back? Well, in case you don't already know, Studio Choo is a little floral design team based in the States that has a thing for flowers that are "just a little bit wild". I love their work & oh my god, aren't the flowers lovely?

DIY Pinwheels

A good pinwheel is hard to come by. Most of the ones you see out in the market here in Malaysia are garishly colored & not really my cup of tea. So what's the solution? DIY of course! I came across this neat little tutorial because I was originally attracted to the picture above (doesn't it look kinda dreamy?). All you need are some scrapbook paper, some wooden dowels (which you can pick up in various lengths over at Art Friend), pins, the usual suspects (hot glue gun, scissors, etc.) & you're on the way to creating some whimsical decorations for adults & kids alike to enjoy!

Si Lolita Parfum

Isn't the decoration of this apartment so chic? A little frou frou for my taste but believe it or not, it's a set handmade entirely in miniature for Lolita Lempicka's latest parfum, Si Lolita! Watch the ad below & then don't forget to watch the making of it too. It's pretty magical if you ask me...

Home Is Where The Heart Is: White & Bright

It's no secret that I love homes with bright pops of color & I especially love homes that don't look too match-matchy. Uh, I don't think that word actually exists but you get what I mean right? Anyways, this London home is the perfect example of everything that I love. It's eclectic, whimsical & bright without going overboard. All that natural light is just wonderful too.

Updates!

Hello lovelies! Every month I just seem to get busier & busier now don't I? I've some pretty exciting news which I will share in due time so do stay tuned! In the meantime, I've just updated the blogshop with a few brand new designs & some feathered hairclips! Check out my latest offerings over at Earrings, Necklaces, Bracelets & More & I hope you'll find something you'll love ;)

In other news, I've decided to regularly update the blogshop instead of just doing it once a month. This means you can now get a more regular dose of Mimpi & there will be more designs available throughout the month. Yay!

Oh, and as a little something special for my regular readers, I'm giving away 3 of my homemade all-natural lip balms to 3 lucky ladies (or gentlemen)! They are retailing at RM15 each & they are already selling out at the bazaars! Just leave a comment below telling me what you like best about Mimpi & I'll randomly select 3 winners. Easy right?

FYI the lip balms were made by yours truly using only the best & choicest ingredients such as cocoa butter, shea butter, sweet almond oil, castor oil, essential oil, beeswax & a little dash of flavoring in either yummy Mango Peach or decadent French Vanilla. Sounds scrumptious right? Trust me you'll love them ;)

So leave a comment below about what you like best about Mimpi (it can be anything from the jewelry designs, my blog posts, the bazaars I attend, my dogs & cats, anything!) to stand a chance to try out my lip balms! Just don't forget to let me know which flavor you'd like to try & include your email address so that I can contact you if you win!

So here's the Giveaway T&C again:
  • Let me know what you like best about Mimpi.
  • The randomly picked winner will receive a homemade all natural lip balm which will be posted by yours truly via Pos Laju within Malaysia or Registered International Mail.
  • Don't forget to leave your email address along with your flavor of choice (Mango Peach or French Vanilla). Please note that flavors are subject to availability.
  • Contest ends Tuesday, 3rd November 2009, 2359 hours & the winner will be notified via email. Make sure you leave a comment with a proper email.
Thanks guys & GOOD LUCK! xoxo

New Maths

These prints are the work of American artist Craig Damrauer. Called New Math they "manage to filter and compact bulging, complicated thoughts into snappy, insightful punchlines – a neat equation that adds to (or multiplies) the ways we can see the world." Read the interview with the artist here.

Perfect for the budding math genius perhaps? Or even for those who like to view life in simple terms? Anyways, I want one for myself but I can't quite decide which print is my favorite... strong contenders include the Caution print above & Perseverance print below. What about you? Which equation would fit into your life?

Dirt Candles

To celebrate some pretty nifty news (and a huge milestone for Mimpi Murni which I will reveal soon), I decided to indulge myself this past weekend. One of the little things I treated myself to was getting a Dirt Candle from Tiny Tapir, my favorite eco-friendly store.

Now, this candle cost a quite a pretty penny. I mean honestly, I'd never buy a candle at RM100 for myself but this time I thought why not? I love candles, it's eco friendly, I definitely deserve it & gosh darn it, they smell too good to pass!

All 25 scents are oh so yummy but as I love warm & sweet scents of the edible kind for the home (think Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate & Coffee), I went with Old Faithful which is a blend of Madagascar Vanilla, Mexican Vanilla, Tahitian Vanilla & herbs. Definitely not your typical vanilla scented candle but a little bit spicy & dare I say it, sexy?

Oh, and did I mention that the candle is eco friendly & 100% natural? It's made with organic soy wax, essential oils, botanical ingredients, all natural cotton wicks & the packaging is made with recycled paper, printed with soy inks & even the glass that the candle comes in can be repurposed as a drinking glass or a container! That's not all folks... The real selling point for me is that the candle is soot-less & that the wax is safe enough to be used on your body & even your lips! So really, you're getting more bang for your buck. Nice.

I could go on & on about this candle so let's just end it here with a resounding, "I Love It!"

Check it out here at Tiny Tapir.

Happy Deepavali!

Before I sign off for the weekend I'd like to wish all my friends & Mimpi Murni supporters who are celebrating the upcoming holidays a very happy Festival of Lights aka Deepavali! Eat & be merry but don't forget to stay safe. Have a great holiday folks!

Parasol Craft

Remember I blogged about the FREE Parasol Mag awhile back? Well, lovely Yasmine of A Print A Day has come up with a sister mag Parasol Craft that I'm totally loving! It's all about crafty goodness, inspiration and exclusive enjoyable projects and downloads at a sweet price of only USD2.50. You can purchase your PDF copy right here!

2 editions are already out & I love both of them equally, I kid you not. Plus the awesomeness of purchasing a PDF magazine is that you cut down on your carbon footprint with the lack of paper, shipping, etc. What a great way to save the planet!

I'm a sucker for free stuff & I was super stoked to find pushmepullyou's index of FREE Charley Harper-esque wallpapers! See all the free designs here & need I say it again? Here, let me spell it for you. F. R. E. E. Go nuts folks!

I still have diving in mind so I chose this darling little image. What about you?

DIY Flower Garlands

I think these simple flower garlands would look awesome for Halloween & most especially Deepavali. With just some snipping & trimming you're done & ready to celebrate!

I dunno about you but I was muttering "why couldn't I have figured that out myself" when I read the tutorial.

Chillingworth

Ann Wood just did it again! She stole my heart with another one of her bird creations & this time it's macabre plush owl christened Chillingworth which would be perfect for Halloween at the end of this month.

Cascading Books

This cascading book installations by Alicia Martin are pretty awesome but I can't help thinking that it's such a waste of books. I have so many books of my own that I love so this looks almost sacrilegious to me but then again, I'm a huge book lover & a softie to boot! Hehe. So how was your weekend my lovelies? I'll be back with some pictures of Tioman ;)

Away

I'll be leaving later today for Tioman Island to do a spot of weekend scuba diving. Haven't been diving in awhile so I hope I won't be too rusty. Lucky me though I'll be excellent company as my boyfriend is a newly certified PADI instructor! I'm so proud of my man :)

So my darlings, please excuse me while I take a few days off. I'll be back by Sunday evening & will attend to your emails & orders by Monday. Be good while I'm away as I'm sure you will.

XOXO

Rita Saardi

These gorgeous, airy pieces by Rita Saardi had me at hello. The flower dress above is simply a work of art in my humble opinion. Now, if only I had the physique to pull off one of these dresses...

Balloon Monsters

Matt at MAKE writes:

New York artist Jason Hackenwerth makes quite an impressive array of creatures using that staple material of clowns, the venerable party balloon. He makes both static sculptures and wearable ones. How long does it take to make such things? The time lapse video above documents 8 hours of work to make one creature, minus some amount of dancing around. Neat stuff!

I think they're just adorable, don't you?

A Peachy Wedding

The folks behind Design*Sponge teamed up with Simply Bloom photography to come up with a wedding photoshoot to celebrate summer & peaches! Amy Osaba did the adorable floral arrangements & Chocolate Pink concocted the heavenly cake. Now sit back & enjoy the pictures (& perhaps plan a wedding of your own?).
