How To Make Votive Candles

Being someone who loves candles but hates having to spend all that money replenishing on my fave candle when it runs out (anyone else out there loves Diptyque?), I've been researching ways to make my own version. During my trawl of the world wide web, I came across this cute yet very informative video from HowCast for those of you who, like me, are keen beginners in candle making. Happy crafting!

You gotta love it his amazing body of work!

Waterfalls For My Birthday

Thank you my darlings for the birthday wishes. I had a full & fabulous weekend as I got to catch up with my nearest & dearest friends, caught the bridal bouquet at an intimate & very lovely wedding (congrats James & Celine!!!) & then best of all, me & the boyfriend did a spot of waterfall hopping!

Although he had initially planned to take me Para Gliding, I decided we should do something a little less heart-thumping & more leisurely so he changed the plan & we took a 30 - 45 minute drive from Ampang to the Hulu Langat/Semenyih area & explored a few waterfalls all within 10 - 15 minutes drive from each other. It was wonderful! Here are just some of the pictures from our little adventure...

Lots of families congregate at the base of the waterfalls but if you go further up, there are more "mini" waterfalls which are mostly quiet & relatively untouched.

After a rather hard trek at one of the waterfalls (OK, I admit I'm out of shape) we spread the picnic mat & I read a little before taking a short siesta.

Finally took the plunge. The water is freezing (but excellent)!

Thanks bi for an excellent trip!

Dreams of Flying

This Dreams of Flying series by Jan Von Holleben is dreamy indeed & a kid's (and this adult's) dream come true. Purchase the picture book here.

28 & Lovin' It!

Hey ya folks! By 2:22 PM today I will be exactly 28 years old. Yup, yup. It's my birthday today but instead of a big hooplah, I'd like to spend it with just the boyfriend, a slice (or two - hey it's my birthday) of Banoffee pie from Alexis, a bottle of Chianti wine & a great movie. Then tomorrow, we're going on a yet to be determined outdoor adventure. Can't wait! I'll share it with you kind folks on Monday (if I survive whatever he has planned that is!).

In the meantime, I have a little surprise in store. If you stick around till approximately 3:00 PM today you'l find out what. Stay tuned!

P/S: A big THANK YOU to everyone who has sent me birthday wishes via phone calls, text message, emails & Facebook! I feel so extremely blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life. XOXO

You know how wall decals are all the rage? Well, these ones by Mae are made with fabric (as opposed to the usual vinyl ones), are totally reusable (whereas vinyl ones aren't) & WASHABLE (unheard of for vinyl decals)!!

Garden Of Delight

This art installation entitled "Garden of Delight" by Marieke van der Bruggen is not only really pretty but it's edible too! All those colorful little twigs are actually made from glucose & visitors to this art exhibit are allowed to taste it by simply breaking off a piece! Now, that's my kind of art!

Libia

I love love love these turquoise Libia Sandals from Free People Clothing but oh, the heartbreak... They don't ship to Malaysia! :(

I think I need to stay away from screen shopping for awhile as my poor heart can't take another disappointment this big.

Hobo International

Bodega Bay in Saffron

It's no secret that I'm very fond of bright, off-beat colors & I love my handbags & wallets to be BIG (or a never ending pit as my boyfriend would put it). So imagine my delight when I stumbled onto a brand that marries both my loves with not only vintage leather but antique brass frames!

Ladies, say hello to Hobo International (even the name just kills me!).

Chanel No.5

The new Chanel No.5 film/commercial featuring Audrey Tautou whom I love. Longing never looked so sexy!

10 Dollar Drawings

I love this concept by aspiring tattoo artist Alicia Lynn Carrier of 10dollardrawings. She's offering up her talent as a fine artist to draw anything you like on brown paper bags for only 10 US Dollars basically "to support my creative habits and to force myself to draw every day." How cool is that?

All you have to do is email her at land_camera_land_camera@yahoo.com with your specific request & make your payment via PayPal. Couldn't be easier. I highly recommend you help support this awesome lady's creative habits folks.

How Crayons Are Made

Haha. I saw this How Crayons Are Made video & it reminded me so much of Sesame Street that I loved to watch as a kid growing up in the 80s that I just had to share it with you. Who knows, this little vid might inspire you to make some Kitty Crayons? Or at least take a trip down memory lane like I did ;)

Kitty Crayons

You can make these adorable Kitty Crayons yourself folks! Just scrounge around for all those old, broken bits & pieces of crayons that your kids or your friend's kids (if you're like me) are sure to have laying around somewhere & use this tutorial to remake them into something cute & useful again!

Platform 9¾

Being the fantasy book lover that I am, it goes without saying that I've read & loved all the Harry Potter books (we really have a lot to thank J.K. Rowling for as she gave us adults a really good excuse to read what would usually be considered children's fiction). So imagine my delight when I found out that Platform 9¾ really does exist at Kings Cross Station in London complete with a luggage trolley stuck halfway through the wall!

If you have no idea what the heck I'm talking about, I suggest you polish up your Harry Potter trivia knowledge here or pick up the book!
